BUILD YOUR OWN 7" SIDE MOUNT HEADLIGHT

Posted by David Wheatland on 14th Sep 2023

this option allows the builder to create an individually styled headlight or replacement part for their bike. this kit came with all parts needed for me to replace a damaged CB450 light, even if with non-original parts, at an excellent price. great outcome for me, and even with shipping costs halfway around the world, a reasonable price, Thankyou, Ill be back.

Light is fine, the grate doesn't fit

Posted by David Kent on 16th Dec 2021

I ordered the light with the mesh grate. No matter how I approached it, the grate would not stay centered on the lens. The lens also has a protrusion on the bottom that contacts the grate when centered. Even after cutting that section out, it still wouldn't fit. I ended up discarding the grate and using the light without it.

    Pretty good

Got this for my 1982 Honda CB450SC. It does not fit the original mounting arms, but I created a little bracket to extend the mounting holes, and now it fits fine. I haven't tried the light out yet, but I think it will be good.

    Affordable DIY way to customize

Posted by Spencer Powlison on 31st Jul 2020

I love having this headlight on my '75 CL360. It really sets off the bike's look and it is brighter than the original headlight (but not crazy-bright). Check the dimensions before ordering... I didn't check the depth and midway through the install, I realized it wouldn't fit my factory headlight mount. I had to order tab-style mounts to fit on my fork. It worked well in the end but made things a little more complicated. Other minor notes: It's tricky to get the grille mounted exactly straight up-and-down. Takes a bit of finagling to get the wires stuffed in the back of the light body.

Looks awesome and fits my bike perfect! A little tricky to put together but nothing a little determination can’t fix! Recommend!

Very tricky assembly, but looks good on the bike

Posted by Unknown on 21st Jul 2019

The clips are tricky to attach, made especially challenging as the grill, rim and light are impossible to keep tougher. The grill does not sit well with the headlight due to the three glass alignment “bumps” on the lens. These bumps are of no utility for this purpose. I cut these down with a Dremel, then used wooden shims to hold the headlight in the rim/grill, and then attached the clips.

    The icing on the cake

Posted by Lee Skillan on 25th Apr 2019

More than happy with this headlamp, looks great, cant wait to see it on the custom cafe racer im building. Assembly was a 5 min job, dont worry about comments about the clips, just needs a bit of effort as they are quite strong clips. Note if you order the grill you must fit it, ill be leaving it fitted as i like the look. Thanks guys, Lee UK

    Works great. Less Filling.

There's one bad review and... well... It seems wrong to me to knock a product because you couldn't figure out how to work it (on a site that serves the DIY community). Basically, if you can't DIY, then pay someone who can do it for you. But either way, STFU. For the rest of us: this is a fun and fast way to get a unique look for a simple street custom. The parts fit and work. What more do you need?
